So tell me about your business

Jeff: Fullerton landscaping is a local landscaping business in Fullerton California. I have a background in landscaping from long summers with my dad working in our yard growing up, and I was looking for a job and decided to start a company instead! I found out I like landscaping and was good at it, so I decided to continue with this line of work. It might sound strange, but I really enjoy working outside with my hands and love being able to work with different clients on their yards everyday.

When did it start? What year?

Jeff: We started in 2018, but really got going this year (2019). We're reaching out to home owners everyday, so we are working to expand our client base.

What was it that made you want to start this business?

Jeff: I really enjoyed working in my dads yard when I was younger. I just ended up liking working with my hands more than being stuck in some office somewhere. It might be an unconventional path, but it works for me!

What was the toughest thing you went through when you got started?

Jeff: The toughest part about getting started was....starting! I'd say the hardest part was getting the first client, which actually came from a neighbor from my parents! That really helped because we were able to then use this person as a reference for other local home owners. After that, i'd say it's mainly the transportation of equipment. It can get hard transporting all our equipment around, but we make it work!

If you had to start over from day 1 again, what would you do differently and why?

Jeff: That's an interesting question! I'd say i would probably have spoken to more home owners by just going door to door around my parents house! As scary as it sounds to go in cold like that, I'm sure people would have responded pleasantly if I mentioned something about their yards! Other than that, maybe try other forms of advertising as well.

What is the toughest part of running a business in 2019?

Jeff: I'd say the toughest part of doing this, other than the work, is probably all of this online stuff. From scheduling, to my own website, to google, social media, etc, it can add up quick. I mainly just use my phone and thankfully most of the services I use have apps.

If a customer was to choose your business, over 3 others, why should they try you?

Jeff: You should try us because we take pride in what we do, provide a great service at a fair price, and do it quickly and efficiently. We also provide weekly or monthly service contracts on yard maintenance, leaf removal, and many other standard landscaping services.

What is the #1 way you've been bringing in new customers?

Jeff: We've mainly been doing it through word of mouth, social media, and referrals.

Has the internet played a large part in your business?

It has! Although we rely heavily on person-to-person contact, we also talk with our customers frequently on social media.

If our readers are looking to work with you, what should they do?

You should head over to our website https://www.fullerton-landscaping.com or give us a call! We'd love to work with anyone with a yard in and around fullerton california! We also do commercial landscaping as well, and can work on office buildings or apartments.
